Deepali Kapatkar is an impressionist painter and works primarily in oils and pastels.
She paints both ‘en plein air’ and in studio from photographs that she takes during
her travels. She likes to tell ‘colorful’ stories of everyday life through her paintings
and photographs. Although it was very daunting to paint ‘en plein air’ and finish a
painting ‘alla prima’, she quickly learned to enjoy it and became passionate about it.
Deepali is an award winning artist and has been juried into various shows across the
Bay Area and the Nation. Very recently her artwork, ‘Ashes to Ashes’, was awarded
First place in the Non-Representative category of the prestigious Society of West-
Coast Artist’s Annual Show. She has been juried into the California Art Club Juried
Shows, the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Club’s Annual open juried show, the National
Women Artist’s Online show and the Pastel Society of West Coast’s open juried
international show among other notable shows. She is a Signature member of the
Society of West-Coast Artists and an associate member of the California Art Club,
American Impressionist Society, The Pastel Society of West Coast, Outdoor Painters
Society, and the Northwest Pastel Society. She is represented by ‘Shrishti Art
Gallery’ in Hyderabad, India.
