Iris Sabre

I am a member of the Marin Society of Artists, the East Bay Plein Air Painters, the Oakland Art Association, and Arts Benicia. Recently, I have received inspiration from my studies with the painters Pam Glover, Randall Sexton, and Van Waldron.

I enjoy painting out of doors.  I take my easel to the grassy hills or the rocky bluffs over the ocean, and paint nature in all its glory. In a sense I am a conservationist.  I try to capture on the canvas the natural world at a particular point in time. I am an impressionist and colorist.  I work with oil paint and do not use solvents.  I invoke sun and shadow using thick paint and intense color. I also do figurative work, painting models, friends, and people and animals encountered in the field.
