Simone Nia Rae is a Visual, Mixed Media artist who pushes the edge of Abstract Black Art. Her bold colors, lines, shapes, and concepts are motivated by her life experiences and emotional states. Simone is prolific; as a result, her passion for creativity and expression pushes her to create every living day.
Based in Oakland California, she has exhibited in many galleries and spaces. She says, “Art is more than just making pretty things, it’s a risk and a heart pump. It’s pain, pleasure and the pursuit of happiness.” She has found motivation in Jean Michel Basquiat, the community around her, and life experiences and emotions. Nia Rae often feels like she spiritually embodies the energy of the piece when creating. Her Art has been successfully featured in Art Galleries throughout the San Francisco Bay Area including SFWA Gallery, ACCI Gallery in Berkeley, Oaklandia X Cafe Gallery, East Bay Community Space Gallery, the Rae Gallery, Joyce Gordon Gallery, and Yoga Love. The galleries and spaces are both conventional and unconventional, and even in the streets.
